Amos scores six goals in BulldogsÎÞëÊÓƵ™ victory over Trojans

Parker Amos scored all of Beth-Center’s goals Thursday night in the Bulldogs’ 6-0 victory over California in a Section 2-A match.

Luke Amon posted the shutout for Beth-Center (5-3-0, 10-3-1). California slips to 1-7 in the section and 1-8 overall.

Mount Pleasant 6, Southmoreland 1 – Aidan Johnson scored two goals in the Vikings’ Section 4-AA victory over rival Southmoreland.

Aydan Gross, Zachariah Livingston, Bryce Gamble and Bryce Heinbaugh all scored one goal for Mount Pleasant (11-2, 12-5). Grayson Gardner made three saves in the victory.

Southmoreland goes to 8-5 in the section and 10-7 overall.

Franklin Regional 4, Belle Vernon 0 – The Panthers shut out Belle Vernon for a Section 3-AAA home win.

Belle Vernon goes to 3-6 in the section and 7-8 overall.

Ringgold 1, South Fayette 0 – Jack Brodak’s goal in the second half lifted the Rams to a Section 2-AAA home victory.

Donovan Fortuna fended off the Lions’ late rally to preserve the shutout.

Ringgold improves to 8-3-1 in the section and 9-5-1 overall.

Waynesburg Central 1, Yough, OT – Isaac McCartney scored in overtime to lift the Raiders to a Section 4-AA road win. Dalton Taylor preserved the shutout.

Waynesburg goes to 6-6-1 in the section and 6-7-1 overall. Yough is 4-7-2 in the section and 4-10-2 overall.

Charleroi 11, Derry 1 – Dylan Klinger netted five goals and Landon Barcus scored a hat trick as the Cougars clinched the Section 4-AA win.

Blake Pendo added two goals for Charleroi (13-0, 14-0).

Elizabeth Forward 4, Ligonier Valley 1 – The Warriors secured a Section 3-AA win behind the two-goal performances by Luca Valerio and Aidan Davis.

Elizabeth Forward improves to 11-1-1 in the section and 12-3-1 overall.

Girls volleyball

Albert Gallatin 3, Elizabeth Forward 2 – The Lady Colonials won the first, third and fifth sets for a Section 3-AAA victory.

Albert Gallatin had set wins of 25-15, 25-21 and 15-12. The Lady Warriors won by their sets, 25-17 and 25-23.

Leah Myers led Albert Gallatin with 14 kills, eight digs and four aces. Mia Myers finished with 18 assists, nine aces and nine kills. Mya Glison had three digs, seven aces, six kills and four blocks.

Laurel Highlands 3, Uniontown 0 – Laurel Highlands swept to a 3-AAA victory over rival Uniontown.

Laurel Highlands won by the scores, 25-9, 25-12, 25-16.

Uniontown stats leaders were Lexi Humberston (8 digs), Lauren White (4 digs), Maggie Campbell (2 digs, 7 assists), Ava Livingood (4 kills), and Lyric McLee (4 digs, 2 kills).

Thomas Jefferson 3, Ringgold 1 – The Lady Rams tied the Section 3-AAA match with a 25-21 win in the second set, but the Lady Jaguars won the final two sets for the win.

Carmichaels 3, Avella 0 – The Lady Mikes swept past Avella for a Section 3-A victory.

Carmichaels won by the scores, 25-7, 25-18, 25-9.

Ashton Batis and Cami Anderson both finished with 11 digs for Carmichaels. Pacey Pratt had a team-high 14 kills. Reese Marzo finished with 21 assists. Bailey Barnyak and Brenna Walker both contributed seven kills.

McGuffey 3, Bentworth 0 – McGuffey handed the Lady Bearcats a Section 3-AA in straight sets.

McGuffey secured set wins of 25-18, 25-23, 25-22.

Sofia Gaussa (7 kills), Olivia Telegraphis (26 digs), and Zoie McDonald (20 assists, 3 aces) led the Bentworth attack.

Waynesburg Central 3, Brownsville 0 – The Lady Raiders remained undefeated with a Section 3-AA win over Brownsville.

Waynesburg Central swept to victory by the scores, 25-21, 25-15, 25-21.

Waynesburg Central improves to 12-0 in the section and 14-0 overall. The Lady Falcons go to 5-6 in the section and 7-10 overall.

West Greene 3, Mapletown 0 – The Lady Pioneers won a Section 3-A match in straight sets.

West Greene won by the scores, 25-15, 25-16, 26-24. Mapletown slips to 1-7 in the section and 2-10 overall.

Frazier 3 Trinity Christian 0 – The Lady Commodores cruised to a Section 4-A victory in straight sets.

Frazier won by the scores, 25-18, 25-6, 25-17.

The Lady Commodores were led by Allie Monack (11 kills), Grace Vaughn (8 kills), Addison Schultz (3 blocks), Gracen Hartman (22 assists), Addison Hiles (9 digs), and Addison Day (10 service points).

Hockey

Connellsville 4, Ringgold 1 – Sam Denny scored a pair of goals in the Falcons’ PIHL Di2 Division road victory over the Rams.

After a scoreless first period, Connellsville (2-0-0-0) scored three goals in the second period. Denny, Alex Boone and Matty Smith Jr. all scored even strength goals.

Caden Doran scored for Ringgold (1-1-0-0) in the second period.

Denny added an insurance goal early in the third period.

Connellsville goalie Nick Daniels-Nimick stopped 21 shots. Ringgold’s Braidee Blackburn faced 41 shots, turning aside 37.

Elizabeth Forward 11, Sewickley Academy 1 – The Warriors cruised to a PIHL D2 Division home victory.

Bobby Boord Jr. and Luke Forbes both scored hat tricks for Elizabeth Forward (1-1-1-0) Boord and Aidan Motil both finished with three assists. Cam Thompson scored a pair of goals.

The Warriors’ Andrew Costello stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced.

Burrell 6, Morgantown 5 – Albert Gallatin’s Geno Valenti scored a power play goal and added two assists in Morgantown’s PIHL D2 Division loss to the Bucs.
