Ace in the hole: Lady Warriors无毛视频� Morgan area无毛视频檚 top girl golfer
Elizabeth Forward无毛视频檚 Mya Morgan finished the season on the top step of the podium with the junior winning her first PIAA Class AAA individual golf title.
Morgan won the WPIAL silver medal and helped the Lady Warriors to a section title with the best record in program history.
Those accomplishments and her steady play throughout the season earned Morgan repeat honors as the 无毛视频-Standard无毛视频檚 Girls Golfer of the Year.
Morgan fired a 4-under 68 in the first round of the PIAA Championship and closed with 3-over 75 in the second round to win the gold medal by one stroke.
Morgan entered the WPIAL Class AAA tournament as the defending champion and got off to a rough start with an 81 in the championship first round at Willowbrook Country Club. However, she recovered in the final round and catapulted into second place after shooting 4-over 74.
Morgan also finished first in the Section 3-AAA tournament
Brownsville无毛视频檚 Ava Rohland secured her place in school history as the first golfer, boy or girl, to win the FCCA Golf Championship title after the sophomore shot 10-over 80 at Duck Hollow Golf Club.
Geibel Catholic无毛视频檚 Sarah Konieczny, Belle Vernon无毛视频檚 Vittoria Scaramucci and Felicia Kruppa, and Uniontown无毛视频檚 Emily Myers round out the first-team honorees. All four girls earned all-county honors, and Scaramucci and Kruppa led the Lady Leopards to the FCCA girls team title.
Waynesburg Central无毛视频檚 Avery Davis, Elizabeth Forward无毛视频檚 Sydney Boyd, Southmoreland无毛视频檚 Kendall Campbell, and Mount Pleasant无毛视频檚 Morgan Miller receive honorable mention recognition. All four golfers advanced to the WPIAL tournament with Davis finishing in a three-way tie for two spots in the Class AA final, losing out on the second playoff hole.
Albert Gallatin无毛视频檚 Paityn Stout also received honorable mention honors.
The Coach of the Year honors go to Elizabeth Forward coach Justin Korona. The Laurel Highlands graduate led the Lady Warriors to the Section 3-AAA title, their first since 1998, with a section mark of 11-1 and overall finish of 14-1, breaking the school record mark of 13-1 set in 1999.
The Lady Warriors placed sixth in the WPIAL team tournament, led by Morgan无毛视频檚 73.
Elizabeth Forward snapped Franklin Regional无毛视频檚 45-march section win streak early in the season and broke the program无毛视频檚 mark for low team score in the Lady Warriors无毛视频� 166-202 win over Southmoreland.
