Lady GatorsÎÞëÊÓƵ™ Larkin earns WPIAL top seed in 300 hurdles

Geibel Catholic sophomore Emma Larkin has the time to beat in the 300 intermediate hurdles entering Wednesday’s WPIAL Individual Track & Field Championships at Slippery Rock University.

Larkin posted the fastest time of 46.62 seconds in the intermediate hurdles in Class AA. She also qualified with the ninth-fastest time of 2:25.88 in the 800.

Ringgold’s Ryan Pajak is the second seed in Class AAA in the 1,600 (4:08.63) and 3,200 (8:38.02).

Southmoreland’s Adam Halinka is the third seed in Class AA with a time of 39.80 seconds in the 300 intermediate hurdles.

The Lady Scotties’ Megan Mehall is seeded third in the 800 and also qualified in the 400. Lexi Ohler has the fifth-fastest time in the 3,200. The duo also run on the third-seeded 3,200 relay.

Olivia Aumer (discus), Lizzy Boone (high jump), Sophie Slater (long jump), and Addie Billheimer (shot put) will also represent Southmoreland.

California’s Lee Qualk is seeded third in Class AA in the long jump (22-1), ninth in the 100 (11.11), and also qualified with the 400 relay. Teammate Ella Neil qualified in the high jump and triple jump.

Niamh McClaflin (1,600), Xander Kadash (200), Carter Kent (800), Landon Abercrombie (javelin), Raegan Gillen (high jump), and Hayley Gibson (shot put) also qualified for California.

Charleroi freshman Braedin Lunger has three solid medal opportunities in the Class AA meet with the fourth-fastest time in the 110 high hurdles (15.09), the second-longest mark in the long jump (22-1), and seventh seed in the high jump (6-2).

The Cougars’ Arlo McIntyre qualified for his first Class AA final in the 100 and 200. Teammate Gianni Pellegrini qualified in the javelin.

Eden Smith (100 high hurdles) and Ella Sypolt (400) secured a lane for the Lady Cougars.

Mount Pleasant’s Jarett Garn has the fifth-fastest time in the Class AA 200 (22.68) and is the 14th seed in the 100. The Vikings’ Aiden Johnson qualified in the 300 intermediate hurdles and triple jump.

Mount Pleasant’s Garrett Eicher and Gage Sowers are seeded in the top eight in the pole vault.

Zack Andrews (300 intermediate hurdles), the boys 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays, Jack Ricciuti (high jump), Dalton Taylor (javelin), Brayden Coon (long jump), Duncan Barto (shot put), and Mason Schroyer (pole vault) all qualified for Waynesburg Central.

The Brownsville boys earned a lane in the Class AA 400 relay. Levi Grogan qualified in the long jump.

The Lady Falcons’ A’zyia Dade (100, 200) and Zhariah Reed (100 high hurdles, 300 intermediate hurdles) qualified in two events, and both are on the Lady Falcons’ 400 relay.

Ryan Minerd is the lone Beth-Center boy to qualify with the 11th-best qualifying throw in the Class AA javelin. Mackenzie Spangler will represent the Lady Bulldogs in the discus.

Gabriella McGavitt represents Frazier in the Class AA javelin.

Laurel Highlands Matt Schwertfeger has two opportunities to medal after qualifying in the 1,600 and 800. Teammate Hunter Kooser earned spots in the high jump and triple jump.

Laurel Highlands’ Jaden Brambley is the sixth seed in the pole vault. Shayla Dues (100 high hurdles), Diondra Brown (200, 400), and Lexie Pulice (pole vault) also qualified for the Class AAA championship.

Elizabeth Forward’s Patrick Burgos is seeded fifth in the 800 and has the sixth-fastest time in the 1,600 in Class AAA.

The Warriors’ Connor Stokes (100, 200), Dominic Cavalier (400), 1,600 and 3,200 relays, Charlie Meehleib (javelin), and Chris Climes (shot put) also qualified for the district meet.

Elizabeth Forward’s McKenna Bittner earned the last spot in the shot put.

The Connellsville boys qualified for the 400 relay. The Falcons’ Nicholas Rohal is the fourth seed in the discus and is eighth-seeded in the javelin.

Connellsville’s Jayden McBride (high jump), Bryson Edwards (high jump, triple jump), Kasey Stanton (long jump), Zachary Franks (pole vault), Glen Strickler (shot put), and Grace Bosnic (300 intermediate hurdles) also have a shot at a WPIAL medal.

The Lady Leopards’ Lily Shahan is seeded third in Class AAA in the javelin and teammate Sienna Steeber is eighth in the pole vault.

Belle Vernon’s Cody Gluszek (discus), Ryan Kent (discus, javelin), Jason Lin (discus), Dane Levi (shot put), and Tessa Rodriguez (1,600) also qualified for the Class AAA meet.

Ringgold’s Maddox Suss (discus), Lily Brenneman (1,600), Abigael Nicolas (high jump), and Angelina Massey (shot put) all qualified for the Class AAA final.

A’kira Dade (100) and Grace Trimmer (1,600) will represent Uniontown.

Albert Gallatin’s Mia Medved earned Class AAA berths in the 1,600 and 3,200. Teammate Grayce Panos is seeded ninth in the 400.
