Mustangs defeat McGuffey, 13-2, for first win
Nicholas Crouch had three RBI Thursday to lead Laurel Highlands to a 13-2 non-section victory over McGuffey for the Mustangs’ first win of the season.
Crouch finished with a double and three singles in Laurel Highlands’ first win of the season. Shane Layton had three singles and Deven Krivosky legged out a triple.
McGuffey goes to 5-5 overall.
Beth-Center 6, Charleroi 1 – Jonah Sussan and Chase Bebout both drove in two runs in the Bulldogs’ Section 1-AA home victory.
Sussan and Santino Ravi both finished with two hits.
Bishop Canevin 15, Monessen 0 – Eli Covington’s single was the only hit the Greyhounds could muster in a Section 3-A home loss.
Kole Olszewski struck out eight and walked two in the three-inning game.
Jackson Maddix led the Bishop Canevin attack with two doubles and three RBI. Olszewski, Tyler Maddix and Kellen Andrusik all doubled. Aaryn Edwards and Tyler Maddix both had a triple.
California 14, Bentworth 7 – Parker Gillen drove in five runs in the Trojans’ non-section victory.
Logan Hartley finished with two singles, a double and two RBI for California (3-9).
Sam Wade drove in three runs for the Bearcats (2-9).
Waynesburg Central 3, West Greene 2 – Austin Surber finished with 12 strikeouts and Alex VanSickle struck out the side in the seventh inning in the Raiders’ non-section victory.
VanSickle also had two singles for Waynesburg (10-0).
Johnny Lampe and Dylan Hughes both had an RBI for the Pioneers (8-4).
Yough 3, Belle Vernon 2 – The Cougars edged Belle Vernon for a non-section road victory.
Sam Smalich led Yough (5-8) with two RBI.
Alex Nash drove in two runs and Jake Gedekoh doubled for the Leopards (11-3).
