Elizabeth Brown Kobaly
West Newton
Elizabeth “Betty” Brown Kobaly, 70, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2025, in the Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Betty was born July 10, 1954, in West Newton, to the late Calvin and Thelma “Tippy” Hurley Brown.
She graduated from South Park High School. After graduation, she married and lived for some years in Norfolk, Va. on the Navy base with her then husband. Later in life she moved to Brownsville, where she was a homemaker. She spent her entire life raising her six children, and thereafter she helped to care for all of her grandchildren. Betty loved all her grandchildren equally, but had a special bond with her oldest grandson, Derek Brown (and his fiancee, Jenna Rouse), who was also by her side caring for her until she passed away.
Betty’s happiness was being with her family and traveling, and doing things with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her best friends, Tyrone Smith and Carlene Bell-they were always by each others side laughing and enjoying life together. She also LOVED her oldies R&B music.
Betty leaves a treasure of memories to be remembered by everyone.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Brown; daughter, Renee Kobaly; granddaughter, Callie Patterson; and best friend, Tyrone Smith.
Betty is survived by her children, Cassie (Mike) Michaux, Dawn Kobaly (Phillip Mosley), Christie Patterson, Calvin Patterson, and Brittany Patterson; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; lifelong best friend, Carlene Bell; special friend, Teddy Woods; and numerous other family and friends.
Services are entrusted to LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, INC., 29 E. Main Street, Uniontown, where friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday, January 17.
