Eleanor Jean McRaven, 95, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 18, 2024, in Hillside Manor. Affectionately known as “Jean”, she was born February 3, 1929, in Uniontown, a daughter of the late Will and Anna C. Baxter.

Upon leaving Uniontown, Jean spent over 30 years in Chicago, Ill., working at a General Motors plant making parts for locomotives. There she met her husband, Ben McRaven, who preceded her in death in 1986.

When she retired, Jean returned to Uniontown in 1994.

She was a faithful member of Christ Methodist Church, where her church family welcomed her every Sunday morning for Bible study and worship services until her health declined.

In addition to her parents and husband, Ben, she was also predeceased by sisters, Ruth and Mary Catherine; a special niece, Shirley Richards; and special nephew, Bob Piper.

Surviving Eleanor are her loving daughter, Nancy Sabatula (Joe); her granddaughters, Debbie Budner (Ed), Kathy Korelko (Joe); and great-grandchildren, Tyler Kenes, Kayla Korelko, and Madison Korelko; her great- great-grandchildren, Payton and Cooper Kenes; special nieces, Judy Piper, Lynnette Walls Cleaver, and Sherri Richards Laughlin.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, September 22, in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with the Rev. Dr. Fred Monk officiating the service. Interment will be private Monday morning, September 23, in Sylvan Heights Cemetery.
