James E. Sampson, 70, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 13, 2024.

He was the son of the late Charles and Lorraine Sampson.

Jim was preceded in death by his siblings: Charles “Sam”, Donald and Charmaine Sampson.

Surviving are his wife and best friend, Francine; daughter, Alyson Klein Fisher (Bob); sons, Eric James (Noelle) and Benjamin Jon (Ricki); grandchildren: Allie, Jordan, Klara, Eliza and Rosa; in-laws, Sandy (Rich) Filiaggi and Guy (Aderia) Giannotta; and nephews: Dr. Michael Filiaggi, Chris Filiaggi, Adrian Giannotta, Leonard Sampson, Jeremy Sampson and Chris Sampson.

Jim’s career began at Gallatin Bank and later at Uniontown Savings and Loan. He served as Chairman of the Greater Uniontown Sewage Authority and was a life member of Elks 370. Jim was the proud owner of Mom Maruca’s Pizza for the last 30 years.

He always enjoyed being with his many friends at the bar, golfing, going to Ocean City, and attending Red Raiders basketball games.

Most importantly, Jim was a fine businessman, wonderful father and grandfather, and a devoted husband.

Visitation will be at CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, in Hopwood, from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 16, and from 11 to 12 p.m., the hour of service, Tuesday, September 17, with Pastor Jim Engel officiating.

The Sampson family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the present and past employees at Mom Maruca’s Pizza as well as the staff at Beechwood Court, especially “Jim’s girls” for their love and care they gave Mr. Jim.
