Norma J. Marcolini Ryan passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024, in Apopka, Fla. She was born October 19, 1931, in Brownsville, a daughter of the late Giovanna “Jane” Persello Marcolini and Attilio Giacamo Marcolini. A lifelong resident of Brownsville, her greatest loves were God, family and Brownsville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, A. Robert “Porky” Marcolini and his spouse Dorothy Marcolini, and John W. Marcolini; her husband, Thomas P. Ryan, Jr.; niece, Amy Marcolini; son-in-law, Tim Landers and his son, Madison Landers.

She is survived by her loving family: son, Kent Thomas Ryan, wife Maureen and daughters Shannon and Casey; daughter, Maureen Ann Landers, her daughter Lisa; son, Kevin Lee Ryan, wife Susan and son Sean, daughter Caroline and husband Will Smith plus son Britton; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Norma graduated from Brownsville High School Class of 1949.

She owned and operated Norma’s Beauty Salon for 44 years, served her town as a founding member of Brownsville Area Revitalization Corporation (BARC), was a Brownsville Borough council person and the first female mayor of Brownsville. She belonged to other related organizations including the Son’s of Italy, Rosa Garibaldi Lodge; Mon Valley Initiative and National Road Heritage Corridor.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the growth of Brownsville through a fund created in her honor, c/o Norma Jean Ryan Endowment through BARC; the Historic Church of St. Peters; or any other organizations working toward the betterment of the town of Brownsville. Family and Friends are invited to a Catholic Mass Saturday, June 1st, beginning at 11 a.m. in The Historic Church of St. Peters, 118 Church Street, Brownsville, Pennsylvania followed by a Celebration of Life at the Son’s of Italy, 16 Race Street, Brownsville, Pennsylvania. Interment will be a private event at Lafayette Memorial Park in Brier Hill
