William T. Jeffries

William T. Jeffries, 91, of Uniontown, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 5, 2024, at Beechwood Court. He was born November 3, 1932, in Cardale.

Preceding him in death were his parents, William Jeffries and Helen Fisher Jeffries Famularo; and a sister, Patricia Louise Vavreck.

William graduated from German Township High School in 1950, and served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a combat engineer.

He went to Youngstown, Ohio to work at Youngstown Sheet and Tube, and later worked for Pressley Ridge School.

He was a member of the First Christian Church of Republic, C.M.F., Diaconate, and World Outreach.

William was an avid turkey hunter and deer hunter. He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Association for over 30 years and loved to call the turkeys in.

Surviving are a brother-in-law, Albert Vavreck of Uniontown; nephew, Mark Vavreck (Lou Ann) of Morgantown, W.Va.; niece, Jodi Vavreck Allison (Paul) of Moon Township; great- nephews, Mark Ethan Vavreck and Brendan Allison; and his many friends and hunting buddies.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 9, and until the 11 a.m. hour of service Friday, May 10, in the SHELL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 164 S. Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, with the Rev. Dr. W. Darwin Collins officiating. Private interment will be in Redstone Cemetery, Brownsville.

The family would like to thank the staff at Beechwood Court, and Amedisys, for the loving care they provided William.

In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of William, may be made to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515, Northampton, MA 01061.
