Dolores Jean Helms, 87, of Vanderbilt, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side.

She was born in Connellsville, a daughter of John V. and Esther Whoric Helms.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, George William Helms; brothers, Larry and Ronald; and sister, Ruth.

Jean is survived by her children: Russell W. Helms, Craig A. Helms, Kimberly D. Tressler and Brad L. Helms; four grandchildren: Brennen (Lily) Tresser, Devon (Frank Hart) Tressler, Jerod Helms and Shelby Helms; six great-grandchildren; sister, Sandy (Melvin) Rogerson; and niece, Lynn (Jim “GeGe”) Elwell.

As a child Jean loved riding the streetcars, but most of all she loved her family. She worked at Crown Cork & Seal, in Connellsville, until her retirement in 1998.

Jean’s family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, at the BLAIR-LOWTHER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 305 Rear Independence Street, Perryopolis, where her funeral service will be held t 11 a.m. on Friday. Interment will follow in Dickerson Run Union Cemetery, Vanderbilt.
