Kenneth E. “Bill” Hixon Jr., 81, of Hopwood, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 8, 2024, after a yearlong battle with cancer.

He was born on April 17, 1943 in McClellandtown.

Bill was predeceased by his parents, Kenneth and Thelma Myers Hixon; sister, Isabella Hixon; brother, Charles and wife, Sandra Hixon; brother-in-law, Donald and wife, Darlene Philips; two nieces, Kellie Crockard and Wendy Jo Hixon and special family member, Jerry Mackey.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Linda S. Philips Hixon; two daughters, Jennifer Hixon and Billie Jo (Greg) Yakubik; brother, Lloyd (Sue) Hixon; niece, Tracy (Greg) Schwartzmiller; nephews, Scott Broadwater and Chris (Melissa) Myers; several great-nieces and nephews; his best buddy, Stuart; special family members: John, Artie and Mike Yakubik, Charlotte Mackey, Patty Alden, Brad (Kelly) Mackey and Matt (Terri) Mackey.

Bill served in the United States Army, coached youth softball, was an avid Steeler fan and was employed with the Albert Gallatin School District as a custodian until his retirement.

The family will receive friends and family in THE DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 12. The funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. with Pastor Charlie O’Brien officiating.

Private interment in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
