Two Uniontown men accused of stealing $6,000 from sandwich shop
Two Uniontown men are accused of stealing $6,327 from a Jersey Mike’s sandwich shop at 712 W. Main Street in South Union Township, according to a criminal complaint.
Last week state police issued warrants for Wesley Haynes, 24, and former employee Terrell Watson, 25, who are accused of breaking into the shop around midnight Nov. 4. Court documents state they took cash from the safe and then split the money in a parking lot about a quarter-mile from the shop on Northgate Highway.
After reviewing video surveillance and conducting interviews with employees, police said Watson was identified as the only male manager with a key to the store.
Police said Watson originally told them that he and Haynes were fishing at Dunlap Creek, which is about 10 minutes away from the store, at the time of the burglary.
During a follow-up interview, police said Haynes admitted that on the night of the robbery Watson had told him they could make “quick money” and that Watson paid Haynes $3,000 for an alibi. He also told police Watson was the only one who broke into the store, the complaint reads.
According to the complaint, Watson said both he and Haynes were responsible for planning and committing the robbery.
Both are charged with felony burglary, theft and criminal conspiracy.
