Uniontown woman jailed on robbery charges

2 min read

Uniontown police arrested a city woman accused of robbing a man at gunpoint Wednesday night.

Madeline Denise McLee, 30, of Uniontown, faces felony charges of robbery and receiving stolen property.

According to the criminal complaint, police were called at about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday to the Heritage Inn at 222 W. Main St., where Melvyn Frazier told police that McLee had pointed a gun at his head, and then fled with his wallet and keys to a rental car. Frazier’s address was not listed on the criminal complaint.

McLee is accused of using one of Frazier’s bank cards at a nearby convenience store on West Fayette Street. Court documents state that the clerk saw her leave the parking lot in a white sport-utility vehicle.

Police found the car stopped at a red light nearby and pulled the driver over.

According to charging documents, McLee was in the rear seat. The two other occupants of the vehicle told police they did not know McLee, and she had asked for a ride at the gas station.

Police found McLee to be in possession of Frazier’s wallet and the rental car keys, according to the complaint. A handgun was also found in the vehicle, which Frazier claimed was hers. Investigators learned that the gun had been reported stolen to state police in Uniontown.

McLee also faces misdemeanor charges of carrying a firearm without a license, theft by unlawful taking, possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.

She was arraigned Thursday morning before District Judge Daniel Shimshock, who sent McLee to the Fayette County jail without bond.
