Agents with the state attorney general’s office searched the home of a Scottdale man Wednesday and found devices containing files that depict the sexual abuse of children.

John Joseph Tresatti, 71, faces more than 20 felony charges for possession of child pornography, manufacture of child pornography, and criminal use of a communication facility.

According to the criminal complaint, in March, Microsoft tipped off authorities that a user was using the Bing search engine to access the illicit material. Police were able to trace the activity to Tresatti using his IP address.

Investigators served a search warrant at Tresatti’s home in the 2100 block of Kingview Road and found a computer with more than 60 files of child sexual abuse material. They also found a camera that appeared to have a homemade video of a nude juvenile, according to the complaint.

Charging documents state that Tresatti admitted to using the camera to film the child in his bathroom several years ago. The victim is now an adult.

Tresatti also allegedly confessed to regularly viewing material depicting the sexual abuse of children, and told officers which computers contained the files, according to the complaint.

Tresatti was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before District Judge Daniel Shimshock, who sent him to the Fayette County jail on $75,000 bond.
