Connellsville man charged in domestic incident

Redstone Township police arrested a man Sunday after he was accused of pointing an airsoft gun at a toddler.

Donald James Phifer, 20, of Redstone, faces a felony of aggravated assault. According to the criminal complaint, at about 1 p.m. police were called to Phifer’s home in the 100 block of Hunters Ridge for a domestic dispute.

During an argument with his girlfriend, Phifer allegedly started to punch holes in the walls, court documents state. According to the complaint, he threw a toy at his girlfriend, and it hit her 3-year-old son on the nose.

Phifer is also accused in court documents of wielding an airsoft pistol and pointing it at the toddler. Phifer denied the accusations in an interview with police.

District Judge Ronald Haggerty sent Phifer to the Fayette County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 26.
