Three football players at Waynesburg University are facing felony charges after another student said the trio came to his dorm room and assaulted him.

Waynesburg police filed charges Monday against Omari Lateef Scott, 19, of Washington, D.C.; Ja Shawn Jordan Wyckoff, 19, of Cleveland, Ohio, and Deon Keith Windham, 18, of Hyattsville, Md. Each teen faces a felony burglary charge. Scott is also charged with a misdemeanor of simple assault, while Wyckoff and Windham face conspiracy charges.

The university did not provide the current status of the three students.

Stacey Brodak, vice president for institutional advancement and university relations, issued a statement via email stating that Waynesburg is “aware of the altercation that occurred on campus.

“These matters are treated very seriously. Our highest priority is the health and safety of our campus community and any threats to such, and/or violations of our student code of conduct, will be handled swiftly by the University and law enforcement, as appropriate,” reads the statement.

All three students were listed on the team’s roster in the program for the Sept. 7 football game against Case Western Reserve. However, their names are not part of the team roster posted on Waynesburg’s website.

According to the criminal complaint, Scott, Wyckoff, and Windham went to Dominic Patrick’s room at Martin Hall dormitory in the 100 block of East Wayne Street at about 6 p.m. Sunday. Scott is accused of punching Patrick in the head, and the trio pushed their way into the room, court documents state. Another dorm resident came to break up the fight and called campus security.

Police said the altercation occurred because someone had stolen Scott’s shoes and dumped his pet fish out of its aquarium.

All three were arraigned Monday night before District Judge David Balint. Scott was released from custody after posting $15,000 bail through a professional bondsman. Wyckoff and Windham posted $10,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Sept. 25.
