Connellsville man arrested for home break-in

1 min read

A Connellsville man was arrested Wednesday after he broke into a South Union Township residence and made himself at home, police said.

Tracy Ritz, who lives on 7th Street., told police he came home just before 1 p.m. Wednesday and found a man in his home. When the alleged burglar, Eric D. Breakiron, 51, fled, Ritz followed him and called police, according to court paperwork.

When police took Breakiron into custody on South Mount Vernon Avenue, he reportedly told them he entered the home around noon by using a step ladder to get in through a window.

“Once inside the residence, Breakiron wanted to relax in the air conditioning and watch television. So, he removed his shoes, socks, and shirt after he turned on all the televisions. He then ate a banana flavored popsicle and drank a bottle of water,” police wrote in the complaint.

Breakiron was arraigned Wednesday afternoon before District Judge Daniel Shimshock, who sent him to the Fayette County jail on $30,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 25.
