Washington teen wanted in homicide case arrested in Uniontown

By Jon Andreassi 2 min read

A Washington teenager accused of plotting the murder of a Ringgold High School senior was arrested by Uniontown police Saturday.

Anthony Kristopher Barfield, 17, was charged by state police last week with homicide for allegedly arranging to have his brother shoot and kill 18-year-old Annalaya Wilkerson of Monongahela.

Uniontown police public information officer Tom Kolencik said police encountered Barfield in an alleyway near the 100 block of Coolspring Street at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

Barfield was taken into custody after police learned there was an active warrant for his arrest in Washington County. Kolencik clarified that Barfield has not been charged with any crimes in Fayette County.

Barfield was arraigned Tuesday morning before District Judge Eric Porter, who sent him to the Washington County jail without bond. He is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. June 10.

Charged alongside Barfield last week was Jeheili Yonshay Cochran, 24, of Washington. There is an active warrant for Cochran’s arrest on charges of hindering apprehension, obstruction and tampering with evidence.

Police initially charged Windale Barfield Jr., 19, and Karon Whitlock, 20, both of Washington, in connection with Wilkerson’s killing. They are accused in court documents of being present when Wilkerson and a 17-year-old girl were shot in the 500 block of Jolly School Road the night of April 13. The 17-year-old has not been identified and was hospitalized.

Court records state that Whitlock told police that Barfield fired the shots and that he was unaware of Barfield’s intentions.

Both Windale and Anthony Barfield allegedly told Whitlock that Anthony had arranged the shooting, court paperwork indicates. Cochran is accused of driving Whitlock to New York City. Court documents also accuse her of telling Cochran she had gotten rid of the gun used to kill Wilkerson.
