Victim identified in Greene shooting
State police identified a toddler injured in a shooting last week as the nephew of one of the men now charged with firing shots into a Franklin Township apartment.
District Judge Thomas Ankrom signed arrest warrants Wednesday for Jeremy Currey 20, of Washington, and Darius Wolfe 19, of Claysville. They each face four charges of attempted homicide.
Injured in the July 13 shooting was Alexis Yoak, 25, and her 2-year-old son. According to the complaint, the child is Currey’s nephew.
Charging documents accuse Currey and Wolfe of firing about five shots into an apartment at the Mountview Garden apartment complex. Yoak was struck in the left eye while her son suffered a gunshot wound to his left thigh.
According to the complaint, there were two others in the apartment at the time of the shooting but they were not injured. Witnesses saw the men get into a dark colored sedan and flee the scene.
Police identified the woman who witnesses described as operating the vehicle, but as of Thursday’s deadline she had not been charged with any crimes.
On Tuesday police interviewed the driver and searched the vehicle. During the search investigators found a yellow ski mask one of the suspects was wearing during the shooting, and a cellphone belonging to Wolfe.
The woman said she drove them to a home on Lincoln Street where Wolfe allegedly cleaned his hands with bleach. She then drove them to the City of Washington, according to the complaint.
Neither man had been taken into custody by Thursday’s deadline.
