Police Beat Aug. 13
CHARLEROI
Drug charges: Morris James Jones, 22, of Clairton, is charged by Charleroi Regional Police with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and carrying a firearm without a license. According to the criminal complaint, police stopped Jones at about 9:45 a.m. Saturday while he was walking in the 500 block of Fallowfield Avenue due to an active warrant for his arrest. Officers searched Jones after placing him under arrest and found suspected heroin, crack and a scale, court paperwork states. Police said he was also in possession of a handgun. District Judge Eric Porter sent Jones to the Washington County jail on $100,000 bond.
CUMBERLAND
Assault alleged: Shawn Michael Harmeling, 36, of Carmichaels, is charged by Cumberland police with aggravated assault, strangulation, terroristic threats and simple assault. According to the criminal complaint, police were called to the 200 block of Randolph Street at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Police said Harmeling attacked Christopher King following an argument over money and choked him, leaving bloody marks on King’s neck. Harmeling told police that King had attacked him. When an officer asked why he didn’t call 911, Harmeling replied, “Do you expect me to kill him?” and “If he does it again, I will have to kill him.” Harmeling was scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon.
DONORA
Assault alleged: Angie Stevenson, 46, of Pittsburgh, is charged by Donora police with aggravated assault and public drunkenness. According to the criminal complaint, Stevenson hit a person in the head multiple times with a lock inside of a sock in the 80 block of Apple Way at about 3:30 p.m. Friday. Court documents do not identify the victim. Police wrote in the complaint that Stevenson caused “serious injury,” but did not provide details. District Judge Eric Porter sent Stevenson to the Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
