Waynesburg U. holds commencement, baccalaureate ceremonies

Rev. Dr. Edward Glover, founder of Urban Impact and associate preacher at Christ Church at Grove Farm in Sewickley, served as the Baccalaureate speaker.

Waynesburg University held its commencement exercises May 5 on the lawn of Miller Hall, honoring more than 350 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students.

John Montgomery, president and CEO of Community Bank, served as the commencement speaker and the Rev. Dr. Edward Glover, founder of Urban Impact and associate preacher at Christ Church at Grove Farm in Sewickley, served as baccalaureate speaker.

During the ceremony, Tyler O’Quinn and Brandon Thomas were commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. O’Quinn will serve active duty in the Armor Corps, and Thomas will serve in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Field Artillery Corps.

Gabrielle Michele Reifsnyder, an early child education and special education major from Carlisle, was the valedictorian.

Grace Ingram, a criminal justice administration major from Valencia, was awarded the 2024 Douglas G. and Kathryn D. Lee Servant Leadership Award.

The award was established by the Waynesburg University Board of Trustees to honor the leadership and commitment of Douglas and Kathryn Lee to the university. Douglas Lee is the president of the university.

The award is given each year to one graduating student who has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities over the course of their time at Waynesburg University in the areas of faith, learning and serving.
