A Morgan Township man was arrested Sunday after he was accused of attacking his stepdaughter with a machete.

Raymond Dorsey, 57, is charged by state police with felonies of aggravated assault.

According to the criminal complaint, shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday a woman called 911 and reported a severely injured woman was in front of her home at Center Street in Clarksville.

Investigators learned the assault had occurred in the 50 block of C Street in Morgan Township, and the woman’s husband drove them to Clarksville. Court documents state that Dorsey struck Kristin Bradley, his stepdaughter, multiple times with a machete.

Bradley is described in charging documents as being “gravely injured,” and was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va.

According to the complaint, the altercation began over a dispute concerning custody of Bradley’s children, who had been staying with her mother and Dorsey.

Security footage from Dorsey’s home showed Bradley approach the home and begin speaking with Dorsey. According to police, the footage shows Bradley walking away from the house and Dorsey following her to the street.

Bradley went back to the home and began hitting the front door. The complaint states there was an altercation between her and Dorsey, during which Dorsey grabbed the knife and struck her multiple times.

Police found the knife at the scene, and describe it as being about 12 inches in length.

Dorsey was arraigned Sunday morning before District Judge Thomas Ankrom, who sent him to the Greene County jail on $250,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 11 a.m. Aug. 28.
