Stepping Stones Bereavement Support will begin the fall program for the newly bereaved on Monday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., at Third Presbyterian Church, 425 Union St., Uniontown. The meetings are every Monday for 10 weeks. Those suffering a recent loss and those who are still grieving a longer loss are welcome. There is no cost for participants. Area residents 55 and older are welcomed to take part in a Seniors for Driving Seminar on Friday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Washington Township Municipal Social Hall, 1390 Fayette Ave., Belle Vernon. A safe driving instructor will discuss communicating with drivers, risk management, airbags, sharing the road, road signs, signals, pavement markings and more. Pennsylvania Resources Council will host a household chemical collection on Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Recycling Convenience Center on Romeo Lane in Uniontown. Among the accepted items are cleaners, paint, batteries, automotive fluid, e-cigarettes/vapes and pesticides. Cost is $20 for disposing of up to 10 gallons or 50 pounds of items. Large loads will be subject to additional fees. Those who wish to dispose of fire extinguishers must pay an additional $12, and those with liquid mercury will be charged $15 per pound. The Brownsville Area Ministerial Association’s “Food for Falcons” food program is collecting socks and gloves for elementary-age children throughout Sept. and October. There will be a donation area in each participating BAMA church. At the end of the collection period items will be taken to the Brownsville First Christian Church to be packed and sent home with selected elementary students.
On Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., the addiction recovery ministry There is Hope will be held at Malden Christian Fellowship, 343 Old National Pike, Brownsville. Fort Burd United Presbyterian Church, 200 Thornton Road, Brownsville, is holding a weekly prayer group at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. The church will hold a contemporary worship service on Thursday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m.
Malden Christian Fellowship, 343 Old National Pike, Brownsville, will hold young adult bible study on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. On Thursdays, the church will hold a weekly women’s meeting open to ladies and teens from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Issues like depression, anxiety, grief, eating disorders will be discussed.
Brownsville Charge Parish will have their annual combined Homecoming and Memorial Service on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at the West Bend United Methodist Church, 155 West Bend Road, East Millsboro. The parish will provide meat and refreshments for a brunch following the service. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish.

The St. Vincent de Paul-sponsored food bank will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, the parking lot of the St. Mary’s Social Hall, 118 Church St., Brownsville, from 11 a.m. to noon. Families must be registered with Fayette County Community Action Agency in order to receive food. Those wishing to sign up on the distribution day will need to bring photo identification, the date of birth of each person in the household, and verification of address.
There will be a food bank at Pleasant View Presbyterian Church, 533 Royal Road, Smock, on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m.
